3D Sequential Restoration of the Annot Syncline (SE France).

Abstract
The Annot Sandstone is a very well-known analogue for sand-rich deep water reservoirs. It was deposited in a fan delta-fed turbidite setting over a period of 10My from the Bartonian to Rupelian, in the active alpine wedge top foreland basin. These turbidite deposits overlie the transgressive Nummulitic Limestone and the deep water Globigerina Marls. Nowadays, the Annot Sandstone is preserved in synclinal outliers in SE France. The spectacular outcrops and the amount of available data make this basin an ideal location to develop methodology for 3D modeling from field data. A 3D surface model of the Annot depocentre was built to illustrate the interaction of folding and turbidite sedimentation. It includes stratigraphic horizons within the Annot Sandstone. This model has demonstrated a progressive migration of the synclinal depocentre during the Annot Sandstone deposition. The details of this depocentre evolution have been addressed using vertical thickness maps, and will be better constrained by a 3D volume sequence restoration. Mesh construction honoring the stratigraphic horizons is impossible in the Annot case, because of the layer thinness and the onlaps. The 3D model of the Annot Syncline is a test for 3D implicit restoration method developed by P. Durand-Riard.
