Abstract

This paper presents some numerical methods in order to make the geological interpretation easier. The proposed methods provide prior information of the inverse modeling using map processing where the potential field anomaly depends on parameters distribution in the earth. In the potential field interpretation, the data must be separated into residual and regional responses. In general the effects of the near and small surface sources induce shorter wavelength contrary to the large and deep sources. The Low Pass, High and Band Pass reject filters are proposed to remove part of a signal and separate the anomalies. For qualitative interpretation, the upward continuation and the vertical derivative have been implemented to attenuate and amplify respectively the effect of the shallow sources. The main transformations have been applied in the spectrum domain using the fast Fourier transform. In the spatial domain, the horizontal gradient, regional field separations have been implemented.
