Abstract
There is an increasing need for developing new exploitation approaches for critical mineral resources.
Europe among others has triggered important projects for securing their supply and lowering their extraction
cost. In this context, in-situ leaching has received a growing interest, in particular with the consideration of
the developing bio-leaching technologies. In this paper, we present the development of a geochemical model
for simulating Copper extraction from Chalcocite-Covellite ore bodies. It is implemented with PhreeqC
using streamline-based dual-porosity simulations. A coupling between PhreeqC and Gocad is proposed for
investigating the effect of the geometry of the mineralization, the heterogeneity of rock properties, and the
well design.
