Abstract
2D and 3D geomodeling is a great tool to manage and visualize different geological data sets in order to better understand a given prospective mineralized area. It helps reconstruct the lithostructural features of the subsurface using a wide variety of input data.\\In this research study, a 2D/3D geological-geophysical model of the Alces Lake property (SK, Canada) was constructed. The Alces Lake property is located within the Beaverlodge Domain, about 28 km north of the Athabasca Basin northern margin. It contains one of the highest rare earth element (REE) grades in the world. The REEs occurring at Alces Lake are fully hosted in monazites within granitic to residual melt pegmatites, which are associated spatially with biotite- rich (+/- sulfides) paragneisses.\\Many different datasets were imported and integrated in this applied research study; including drill hole core/down-hole data, geophysical data (magnetics/gravity/EM), whole-rock and mineral geochemical data, topographic data, assessment and technical reports, geological maps, as well as legacy data from historical studies. In the present study, both forward and inverse modelling was conducted at the deposit-scale in conjunction with GM-SYS 2D profile modeling using gravity and magnetic survey data. The new modeling results provide a better understanding of the distribution and lithostructural controls of REEs on the property. The ultimate goal is to identify some new potential targets at depth on the property.
