Abstract
The purpose of this work is to study heat and mass transfer in geological porous
media. The porous media encountered in natural formations such as sedimentary
basins, soils or oil reservoirs are really a 3D problem for at least three reasons:
- 3D complex geometry
- high spatial variability of the physical properties
- physical phenomena have spatial extent.
We present in the section the results obtained by solving the heat and mass transfer
equations using a finite difference scheme implemented using GOCAD VOXET structures. A more general finite element scheme is under development using VOXET and
TSOLID structures, for addressing similar types of problems.
