Abstract
Implicit modeling has been used for some time in geomodeling applications, to produce boundary representations (BRep) from various spatial geological data such as point clouds. However, the method still has a few limitations, both in the computation of an implicit scalar field holding geological meaning, and in producing models on which a physical simulation can run. When computing an implicit scalar field, artifacts often remain from boundary conditions and smoothing operators. When expliciting this scalar field, issues arise from non-robust geometric intersections of structures and interpolation of the implicit field on a volumic mesh.
