Abstract
Stochastic fault network modeling is of particular interest for risk assessment during reservoir appraisal and production phases. It is used to study the uncertainties related to fault geometry and interactions between faults. This paper presents a reflection on how to use slip information to condition stochastically generated fault networks. It introduces rules using a volumetric displacement parametrization associated with each fault. Three approaches are presented to modify the fault simulation process to improve the management of conditioning data and better account for kinematics. Two other approaches use inverse modeling to optimize displacement parameters according to horizon geometry.
