Some GeoChron Unrevealed Sides: Linking the GeoChron Einstein Curvature with Classical Sedimentary Depositional Models.

in: 35th Gocad Meeting - 2015 RING Meeting, ASGA

Abstract

One of the genius ideas of GeoChron is to turn the complex 4D space-time into a simplified 3D one by mapping time on depth. Some results are sometimes easy to establish. It only needs to pull the right string. The key question is: what string to pull? When mapping time on depth, a lot of strings can be pulled. One of them is the notion of sedimentary curvature (not to be confused with classical geometric curvature): in GeoChron, sedimentary curvature explains sedimentation acceleration, and much more, as demonstrated in this paper. In addition, some sedimentation attributes such as the sedimentary potential, and acceleration can be related to the various curvatures which can be calculated within the GeoChron framework. These parameters were then related to the sedimentation parameters used in basin modeling. It is shown that the lateral and time (or pseudo vertical) variations of the sedimentation rate are linked to the diffusion and advection parameters which had governed the sedimentation process through the GeoChron sedimentary Einstein curvature and acceleration. This is what we call the unreveal sides of the GeoChron Model. How many other strings to pull squeezing the GeoChron theory? This is a new way for thinking modern sedimentology: an open research way for future generations.
