Abstract
Small modifications can be made to faults in tetrahedral models in order to accommodate minute changes in geometry according to new information or new interpretation of seismic data. Consequently, a tetrahedral model can be locally edited without having to go back to a boundary representation model and then recompute a tessellation. If the modifications occur close to a fault contact, special care has to be taken when the model is updated to ensure that its geological consistency is maintained. The secondary fault moves along the main fault without crossing it. The general shape of the main fault does not change. Similarly, when a geological property is texture-mapped on the tetrahedral volume using the Geochron model, the Geochron parametrisation attached to the points in the model is updated in order to keep mapping consistency and quality.
