Building Streamlines on a GOCAD Surface
in: 24th gOcad Meeting, ASGA
Abstract
This paper presents a set of tools for building streamlines onto triangular surfaces that have been recently integrated into the 3D-Streamline research plugin StreamLab. Several algorithms including direct methods or particle tracking techniques such as Euler, Runge-Kutta or Pollock have been investigated. Following the methodology proposed by Prevost [ ´ Prevost ´ et al.(2001)], the semi-analytical Polock method has been implemented onto a regular quadrangle meshed surface (2D-Grid) and a triangular surface (TSurf) using a local 2D-parametrization formulation. Several different types of problems can be solved; among those sedimentation, erosion and transport of sediments along erosional surface, run-off along a topographic surface, flood modelling, etc ... The next steps are to extend this tool to polyhedral meshed surfaces and generalized maps (G-map).
