Abstract
During the last two years, many interrest has been aroused by parameterization techniques, due to the wide spectrum of possible applications of those methods. The parameterization method based on D.S.I. has made it possible to design new techniques for separating properties from their geometrical support, to construct faulted curvilinear grids, to design re-triangulation algorithms acting in parameter space . .. Structural geology is another field that may benefit from this kind of approaches. In this paper, we investigate a new method for unfolding surfaces, and characterizing the transform. This method might be used to determine the limit conditions to unfold volumes.
