Abstract
Building faults for a 3D depth model is a difficult task because of the multiple sources of uncertainties concerning the input data. These uncertainties increase along the long chain going from the data acquisition to the 3D Model building (uncertainties concerning the velocities, the picking and the organization of the fault network in 3 dimensions). We first focused on the parameterization of a new object, specifically designed to model faults. During the last months we added a method to incorporate fault interpretation curves in the reference fault building. Then we added a new possibility to compute different simulations of the shape in a given uncertainty volume for a single isolated fault. In this paper, the different ways to simulate the shape of a single fault inside the uncertainty volume are explained first. Then we remind the surfacic aspect of the new FaultNetwork data structure, and how we propose to use this data structure to study the uncertainties. This data structure will help to ensure contacts between the different faults of a fault network during the simulations.
