Discrete Smooth Partitionning (Provisional version)

in: 13th gOcad Meeting, ASGA

Abstract

ln a wide sense, a facies in geoJogy represeIlts a part of the subsur- [ace which properties can be considered as more or Jess constant at a given scale . Each facies can be composed of a series of disjoint regions and th e set of aIl the possible facies constdutes a partition of the subsurface. In order ta estimate sudJ a partition, l propose a method close ta the notions of "Indicator Krigging" and "P-fields" developed by the School of Geostatistics at Stan ford. The new proposed approach is based on the DSI method and can take into account a wide range of constraints alIowing to reduce the space of the possible solutions. In this paper, l propose a provisionnal presentation of this new method. This theoretical presentation is pretty complex and should evolve in future versions.
