RINGMecha is a geomechanics oriented software.
Finite Element Analysis
RINGMecha provides Finite Element Analysis tools to solve geomechanics problems on 3D geological models. It uses the mesh stored in RINGMesh, an open-source programming library developped by the RING team and collaborators. RINGMecha handles hydrid meshes composed by tetrahedra, prisms, pyramids and hexaedra. It can use either linear elements or quadratic elements. Mechanics-based problems can be solved with static or dynamic finite element method. In the static method, the time is not taken into account and the solving is faster than in the dynamic method, which takes into account the time. RINGMecha can also decompact rocks usin exponential porosity / depth laws due to a change of the overburden.
What you can do:
- Solve a mechanics-based problem using finite element method in static or dynamic with Dirichlet, Neumann and contact boundary conditions.
- Decompact rocks.
- Plug RINGMecha into any geomodeller.
This Finite Element solver is called by RestorationLab since Gocad 14 for the geomechanics restoration problems.
